Polymaker™ HT-PLA Pro is a tough PLA for functional parts that need better durability in real-world use. It prints as easily as standard PLA and keeps its shape without load in warm environments. Won't sag up to 150 °C straight off the plate

Polymaker™ HT-PLA Pro is designed to keep its shape in heat-exposed environments without load. Its Vicat softening temperature reaches 148.3 °C straight off the build plate and 150.5 °C after annealing, tested off the plate with no load. For applications that require heat resistance under load, annealing is needed. A 30-minute anneal at 100 °C increases the Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT @ 0.45 MPa) from 56.3 °C to 107.6 °C. This makes it better suited for warm-use cases such as sunlit windowsills or parts placed near heat-emitting machinery.

2x PLA durability

HT-PLA Pro keeps strong thermal properties while improving mechanical performance. Compared with regular HT-PLA, it delivers more than 2x higher impact strength (9.94 kJ/m² vs 4.94 kJ/m²) and 30% higher Z-axis interlayer adhesion (26.8 MPa vs 20.8 MPa). This helps printed parts resist impact and splitting along layer lines.

Prints with PLA settings

Unlike many high-temperature filaments, HT-PLA Pro prints with standard PLA settings. It runs on most standard FDM printers, with no enclosure, no specialty hotend, and no complex tuning required. Supporting print speeds up to 300 mm/s, it can fit into existing production workflows with minimal changes.

Does it really need no enclosure?

No. HT-PLA Pro prints on any standard FDM printer with a standard nozzle. No heated chamber, hardened nozzle, or extra ventilation is needed.

Is it tougher than HT-PLA?

Yes. HT-PLA Pro has 2x the impact strength of HT-PLA and regular PLA, with improved layer bonding strength.

Is it UV-resistant?

Its UV resistance is on par with standard PLA. For sustained direct outdoor UV exposure, ASA is the better choice.

Is the surface finish matte?

No. It has a semi-gloss surface finish when printed at 230 °C. If you want a matte surface finish, you can print at 210 °C, but this may reduce strength.

Can I anneal it?

Yes. Please refer to the annealing guidelines for 3D-printed PLA parts.

First, choose a suitable heating device for annealing. The best option is a temperature-uniform heating chamber, such as a forced-air drying oven. If you use a household oven, the side facing the heating elements may overheat and soften too much. To reduce this risk, wrap the part in aluminum foil. You can also use a water bath or oil bath, but avoid contact with the bottom of the container to prevent overheating and softening.
Second, preheat the heating device to 100 °C. Once the target temperature is reached, preheating is complete.
If space allows, keep the part attached to the printer bed and place the full assembly into the oven. Make sure the bed is at the bottom and the part faces upward.
Annealing time depends on the thickness of the printed part:
Less than 4 mm: 30-60 min
6 mm: 1-2 hours
8 mm: 2-4 hours
10 mm: 3-6 hours
After the required annealing time, let the part cool down in the oven before removal.
The annealing process is then complete.
The expected dimensional change after annealing is 0.3-0.6%, with slight differences between the XY and Z axes.
If space is limited and the part must be removed from the build plate, do not remove the support structures. Place the part in the oven in its original printing orientation.
Large or thick-walled parts are more challenging to anneal. Use a programmable oven where possible. First hold the part at 60 °C until the internal temperature is uniform, then heat quickly to 100 °C, or transfer it directly to a preheated 100 °C oven to reduce the risk of permanent deformation.

Printing Requirements

This prints well on any standard FDM printer. A 230 °C printing temperature is recommended for optimal performance.

You may need to print more slowly on older printers.

Ht -pla pro prints great

Im 65percent through a 40 hour print , and I have to say that this ht-pla pro print great so far. Printing at 230 degrees, fans at 40 percent, and slow speed. Haven't had any warping , or problems. I cant wait to get some different colors so I can do some more prints with it.

Great filament

Picked up a roll of black, dark gray, and burnt orange for some planned projects. Used the PolyMaker print profile for my K2 Pro and this stuff prints beautifully.

The Burnt Orange has to be my favorite shade of orange filament I have used so far. And the Dark Gray contrasts it quite nicely for 2 tone projects.

My new favorite PLA

I had seen an early review video on HT-PLA Pro and felt like I had the perfect project to try it out - a simple lid for my wife's facial wax heater. The things run quite hot to keep the wax at temperature but I wanted a lid to cover the molten wax for safety reasons. A temperature resistant material was called for.

I won't bore you too much with the design - think hemisphere with a large void under the dome where the wax container sits. Being that it had a curved top, I decided to print it right-side-up, which meant having a lot of support for the large void area.

I loaded up the HT-PLA Pro on my Bambu A1 Mini, modified a Polylite PLA profile to increase the nozzle temp a bit (per the box instructions) and set it to printing.

The result was flawless and all that support came out in one block with a slight tug with plyers, leaving a very smooth interior. All of the surface areas were excellent and after several days of use my wife is very pleased with it and there are zero artifacts or any sort of warping.

Received wrong color, took a week to get here for nothing

It is a big deal when you order Pink and they give you 2 Purple rolls. Now I won't be able to make an item for a client and lost business! I truly doubt Polymaker will make this right, seems another reviewer got Purple instead of Pink. Definitely a quality control issue!

So far so good. New product, in testing.

This review is mainly here to balance out the silly person who gave a new product a 1 star review because polymaker mixed up purple and pink, oh the horror.

My first order of 10 rolls showed up perfectly and my first print in HT-PLA-Pro also printed perfectly. It is a high impact object where previous HT-PLA’s have not worked well because of layer adhesion issues. Only time will tell, but so far so good.
I’ll be leaving this test print in my hot car to watch for warping. If this review is still at 5 stars, assume everything has worked out well.

This is fantastic. Polymaker has another home run!

I printed the obligatory Benchy and a couple other items to test. This prints flawlessly right out of the box. I used the Polymaker HT PLA Pro profile settings for my printer. I am looking forward to doing more with PLA that I don’t need to worry about getting too hot or leaving it in the car.

Great filament for me. I have done some strength tests, both before and after annealing, and have been very impressed. My post annealing horizontal force test came in above ABS. Going to be using this for smaller parts until I find it's tolerances, but so far very impressed
