Description

Built for Real-World Performance
Polymaker™ PLA Pro is engineered for speed, toughness, and reliability. This toughened PLA formulation delivers improved impact resistance, strong layer adhesion, and dependable dimensional stability, making it ideal for functional parts and demanding print schedules.

Fast Printing, Zero Hassle
Validated for high-speed printing up to 300 mm/s, PLA Pro helps maximize productivity for rapid prototyping, print farms, and light production environments. It prints cleanly with standard PLA settings, requires minimal tuning, and works reliably on open-frame printers.

Tough Where It Matters
Less brittle than standard PLA, PLA Pro performs better under impact and bending loads, making it a solid choice for brackets, housings, fixtures, and general-purpose end-use parts.

Easy Printing, Serious Strength
Designed to handle real-world mechanical demands, PLA Pro delivers toughness suitable for vibration-prone and mechanically loaded applications while still printing as easily as standard PLA. No enclosure required, low warp behavior, and low odor mean you get durable, confidence-inspiring parts without changing your workflow or printer setup.

Wide Color Selection
Available in a broad range of standard and metallic colors, PLA Pro delivers both performance and visual consistency across prototypes and finished parts.

Product Transition Notice
Polymaker™ PLA Pro is the new and improved formula replacing PolyLite™ PLA Pro. PolyLite™ PLA Pro will be officially discontinued by the end of 2026.

Printing Requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers. From choosing the right material to caring for your spools, here's everything you need to know in one spot.

What is the difference between PolySonic™ PLA Pro and Polymaker™ PLA Pro?

Polymaker™ PLA Pro is an evolution of PolySonic™ PLA Pro. Performance reflects the equivalent properties as before and now with 32 colors and Made in US formula for US Sales only.

Will the spools work in an AMS?

Yes! We have redesigned the edges of our spools so all Polymaker products will now spin great in the AMS.

Is this material food safe?

Unfortunately we do not have any data whether this material is food safe. As of now, no 3D printing material on the market is FDA food safe compliant. This is because in order to be certified as food safe, the actual object needs to be certified and not the base material. The shape, bed used, environment the object was made, and much more goes into getting a food safety certificate. As of now there is no real certification that the FDA offers for 3D printing.

Do you sell refills?

We are sorry but we do not sell refills at this time.

Is this material recyclable?

Unfortunately there is no great answer for recycling PLA at this time. Our cardboard spools are biodegradable but there is no great way to recycle PLA at this time.

Do I need an enclosure to print PLA Pro?

No. PLA Pro does not require an enclosure and works well on open-frame printers.

Does PLA Pro require a hardened nozzle?

No. PLA Pro contains no abrasive fillers and prints well with standard brass nozzles.

Is PLA Pro stronger than regular PLA?

Yes. PLA Pro offers improved impact resistance and flexural strength compared to standard PLA.

How should PLA Pro be stored?

Store in a dry environment. Use of a PolyBox™ or PolyDryer™ Box is strongly recommended during storage and printing.

What support materials work with PLA Pro?

PLA Pro is compatible with PolySupport™ and PolyDissolve™ S1.

Customers praised this filament for exceptional print quality, strength, and ease of use. Reviews highlight "flawless" printing, excellent layer adhesion, and superior toughness. Some concerns about packaging changes (single-use vs reusable bags), color accuracy variations, and occasional moisture issues requiring extended drying time.

Amazing all-rounder

This filament has been THE backbone of all of my print since I started. Holds in humidity decently, has smooth prints and not many failures, and overall easy to print with! Would recommend.

Better than ASA?

Somehow having a better experience than my Polymaker ASA. Easier to print, sticks to bed without glue and at a lower temp, similar or higher impact resistance? Besides HDT, what is not to love? Very happy overall with all my Polymaker experiences, seriously.

Mixed Experience So Far...

So far my printing experience with this new PLA Pro formula has been mixed. I have only had 2 serious jams with my setup, and this product is responsible for 1 of them on the first spool I printed of it. Additionally, the functional specs that matter are almost unanimously worse than the old formula. -1 star for being a jam suspect, -1 star for being less functional than the old formula. 3 stars.

Smooth prints, use basic PLA settings

Very smooth prints. Just make sure to run the generic PLA settings on your Bambu printer or you might get jams. Otherwise, the prints are very strong and they look perfect.

Polymaker PLA Pro solved a problem

I had a serious stringing problem with another brand. I switched to a Polymaker PLA Pro mid-way during the print and the stringing problem disappeared.

Works better than the rest

Works better than the rest. This might not be the cheapest, but you’re paying for quality. This is probably the best filament on the market.

Great filament prints well

After drying with Polydryer for just an hour, this filament is doing a great job and print right. Can't find major defect on calibration print. The only defect is the "eco friendly spool" which requires an adapter in order to use in Bambu AMS. Also the filament starts to tangle a bit after a few prints.

Nicest print feels sturdier and nicer

The little pyramid I included in the pictures was printed at 220C, 60C build plate on an Ankermake m5 at 500mm/s. I've used Polymaker PLA pro, normal PLA, E-sun PLA+, Ankermake PLA+ and a few other brands, and this one by far gave me the nicest print. The pyramid was printed at .28 layer size and 20% infill. It feels sturdier and nicer than any other filament I have used. If I was printing 2A or other related things that would require more structural strength, I would go with traditional polymaker PLA pro, but this is now my go-to filament for everyday parts.
