Facilidad de impresión y rendimiento                                                                                      PolyLite™ CosPLA imprime de forma fiable en la mayoría de las impresoras 3D de sobremesa, sin necesidad de hardware especial ni de una carcasa. Las temperaturas de impresión recomendadas oscilan entre 190–220 °C, con una temperatura de cama de 30–60 °C.   • Use standard PLA-style settings, then sand and paint the finished part as needed for cosplay finishing.
  • Start within the recommended 190 - 230°C nozzle and 25 - 60°C bed ranges, then make small adjustments for the printer and model.
  • Use the recommended ON cooling-fan setting and keep printing speed within 50 - 300 mm/s.
  • Run a small test print before a long job and adjust only within the published printing window.

What is the difference between Version A and Version B?

After a couple of formula iteration, we developed a PolyLite™ CosPLA which was able to outperform the durability of regular PLA while being much easier to sand and paint. However we found a way to improve the sand-ability even more and another way to almost double the toughness of the material. Unfortunately we could not implement both technology at the same time, therefore we decided to go ahead and release two version:
Version A with the first technology improvement to enhance the sand-ability even more.
Version B with the second technology improvement to enhance the durability even more.

It is important to note that BOTH displays better durability and sand-ability than regular PLA while being easier to paint.

What is the heat resistance of PolyLite™ CosPLA?

During our market research we found 4 needs for cosplay applications:

- Sand-ability
- Durability
- Paint-ability
- Heat resistance

Although PolyLite™ CosPLA solves the 3 most important needs, it keeps the same temperature resistance as regular PLA (~60˚C).
We have different formula which do increase the heat resistance but significantly compromise on the ease of printing. (which is often the case for 3D printing material: ease of printing and heat resistance are the 2 main properties which we all want in the same material but is the most challenging to develop).
As a result, as we already formulated a very high quality ABS with great printability and dimensional stability, we would like to suggest our PolyLite™ ABS for cosplay application requiring high heat resistance. (it also displays durability and sand-ability).
As an alternative we can also recommend PolyLite™ ASA which displays the same feature as PolyLite™ ABS with an additional resistance to weather.

Will the spools work in an AMS?

Yes! We have redesigned the edges of our spools so all Polymaker products will now spin great in the AMS.

Is this material food safe?

Unfortunately we do not have any data whether this material is food safe. As of now, no 3D printing material on the market is FDA food safe compliant. This is because in order to be certified as food safe, the actual object needs to be certified and not the base material. The shape, bed used, environment the object was made, and much more goes into getting a food safety certificate. As of now there is no real certification that the FDA offers for 3D printing.

Do you sell refills?

We are sorry but we do not sell refills at this time

Is this material recyclable?

Unfortunately there is no great answer for recycling PLA at this time. Our cardboard spools are biodegradable but there is no great way to recycle PLA at this time.

Customers highly praise this specialized PLA for cosplay and prop-making. "Sands like a dream" and "easy to sand away layer lines" were common remarks. The material is durable, takes paint well, and prints reliably. Most found it worth the price for finishing work, though one customer noted it's "no easier to sand than typical PLA" for detailed parts. A few mentioned minor stringing issues and one found it less strong than expected.

Great material for cosplay props

The cosplay PLA has been my go-to material for my armor and props. After sanding, it doesn't need that much filler or UV resin for the surface unless there are uneven layers due to the machine.
One thing I do recommend is annealing your prints before sanding and painting.

Easy Support Removal Saves Hands

So I have not yet gotten to the finishing part so I can't speak for it's sandability, but I have never had a filament where the supports came off so easily! Normally I have to fight with them and end up with my fingers wrapped in Band-Aids. I have even put my scraper through my finger trying to pry them off... and yet with this filament they just came right off easily. No Band-Aids required afterward! I honestly wish I had caved and bought this filament a lot sooner because this would have saved me a lot of headache, but now I know that I am definitely going to be buying more so that I no longer shed blood over prints.

Solid Filament

Filament itself is sound, always have good prints and minimal errors. Does indeed sand pretty easily. Printing with5 walls or more and you will be able to drop your props without a worry.

Easy sanding. Excellent quality.

This is definitely easier to sand to get rid of layer lines. A few minutes with a rougher grit, then filler primer, and you've got a completely smooth surface. Easy to print and overall excellent quality filament.

Spool was nicely wound, filament diameter consistent, and print perfectly in my X1C. Smooth prints that sand super easy, layer adhesion feels great when stress testing and the plastic isn’t very brittle(as far as PLA goes). After printing with several kg of this it will be my new go to filament moving forward.
