Häufig gestellte Fragen

Fragen? Wir haben die Antworten. Von der Auswahl des richtigen Materials bis zur Pflege deiner Spulen findest du hier alles, was du wissen musst, an einem Ort.

What makes PolyMax™ PLA so different from other PLA?

PolyMax™ PLA features our nano-reinforcement technology which significantly increases its ductility. Ductility is the ability of a material to exhibit plastic deformation before fracture.
In simple words, PolyMax™ PLA will always bend instead of breaking. The opposite of ductile materials can be seen as brittle materials.

What is the difference between PolyLite™ PLA, PolyMax™ PLA and PolyLite™ PLA Pro?

Short answer:
PolyLite™ PLA is a very rigid material with very low impact resistance.
PolyMax™ PLA is an extremely ductile material with high impact resistance and durability.
PolyLite™ PLA Pro is the best of both worlds combining excellent rigidity and high impact strength.

Long answer in our live experiment here.

What is PolyMax™ PLA heat resistance temperature?

PolyMax™ PLA is a PLA based product and will display similar heat resistance temperature as regular PLA: ~60˚C (Glass Transition Temperature)

For similar printability with higher heat resistance we can recommend PolyMax™ PETG (~80˚C)

Will the spools work in an AMS?

Yes! We have redesigned the edges of our spools so all Polymaker products will now spin great in the AMS.

Is this material food safe?

Unfortunately we do not have any data whether this material is food safe. As of now, no 3D printing material on the market is FDA food safe compliant. This is because in order to be certified as food safe, the actual object needs to be certified and not the base material. The shape, bed used, environment the object was made, and much more goes into getting a food safety certificate. As of now there is no real certification that the FDA offers for 3D printing.

Do you sell refills?

We are sorry but we do not sell refills at this time

Is this material recyclable?

Unfortunately there is no great answer for recycling PLA at this time. Our cardboard spools are biodegradable but there is no great way to recycle PLA at this time.

Customers praised this PLA filament for exceptional strength and durability, with many noting it "prints like silk" and is "tougher than PLA+." Popular for structural projects, it offers impact resistance and excellent layer adhesion. Some reported initial settings calibration needed, and occasional bed adhesion or stringing issues. One mentioned country of origin labeling clarity needed.

PolyMax is Amazing

PolyMax is a PLA Pro formulation that provides a lot more strength of you anneal it. The thickness is always spot on, the QA is amazing. The colors alwaysatch the online pics.

I use this to print 2A items. The strength it provides is needed to contain a small explosion, over and over!

If you need strength and ease of printing, get your filament from Polymaker

Filament Works Great, Very Happy

I do like it. I have adjustments to make in my software. But overall the filament did what it should. Very happy with the color as well.

Best PLA for serious 3D printers

I have three rolls of the PolyMax red, blue, and Yellow; all are very compatible with the Ender 3 (Stock) I was testing it with. Very clean, sized at 1.75mm dead on all the way through the roll. Strong and a little flexible, it keeps it's size and shape much better than other PLA's. I have drilled, threaded, and milled this product, slow and cold is the key to machining (yes you can). I believe that after some marketing and price alinements, this will become the "Go To" PLA for all serious 3D printers; it's not for making trinket's; but for replacement parts and prototyping a quality model, this is the best you can buy. My Ender 3 settings work best at: 60-70mm/s for print speed, 100% extraction, 207c nozzle temp, 55c bed temp. Retraction is low 5mm @ 40mm/s. Infills can be kept lower than normal due to the increased strength, 30% is a very tough piece, 80% weights a ton .. I use heavy walls at 1.2 to 1.6mm and 1.2 top/bottom thickness for very strong parts ...machine @ 100% infill. Price is still a little sticker shock, however, I break 0%, 0% failed bed adhesion, 0% failure of completed parts; that's worth the price; and there's my time. Buy it and try it. If you don't love it, contact me; and lets look at your printers/slicer settings, it's not the PolyMax!

Polymax is the best filament ever

I've been using a 3d printer for years and recently tried the blue polymaker polymax pla, along with some PETG and PET filament. This polymax is hands down the best filament i've ever used! It adheres to the bed perfectly every time, does not warp, no odor, and its very tough stuff. The layers are bonded so tightly that the part essentially becomes fused as one. It's not rigid like pla, but has a small amount of flex similar to abs. This means that its perfect for threading screws into it and the threads lock into the material perfectly unlike a typical pla which is too hard and brittle. When comparing this material to the PETG, PET, ABS or PLA there's no competition and what surprised me was that the prints were just beautiful. The print lines are very clean and perfect. The strength of this material also far surpasses pla or abs. I performed a break test on all 3 materials and i couldn't even manage to break the polymax sample.I'm using a Makergear M2 and printed with a 50c bed temp, 220c extruder temp, 4800mm/min, fan on full after first layer.

New Favorite PLA Delivers Accurate Prints

You get what you pay for, and this PLA delivers! I have a new favorite PLA. Very predictable and accurate prints. I was skeptical about the strength claims, but it is stronger and forms better layer to layer adhesion than typical PLA. I print it on a Flashforge Dreamer at 210 C, and a bed temp of 35 C. I only use Elmers Washable Glue Stick (the purple one) on my bed. I haven't tried their other types and i'm not sure I want to after using this. I'm spoiled now.

Exceptional filament prints better than anything else

I'm using this with an M3D at 215 C, almost always without a raft. It prints better than anything else I've used in the M3D. This and the Poly Plus are exceptional filaments.

Great Filament, Deceptive COO

Filament works great, just as expected. Ordered after reading that Polymaker was making some of their filament in the US. Went to the US site, assumed that since there was no country of origin information on the (mobile - haven't checked desktop) page, that it was likely made in the US. Received my spools in a timely manner. Everything worked great.

Look, I don't really care where it's made, but it's really important to some of my clients and it delayed my delivery while I grabbed a different US made brand. Would have been nice to know when ordering and I likely could have found the information somewhere with some research.

Great high quality PLA

I ordered some of this for my Bambu Lab A1 Mini, and it prints great! Great durability and quality, although sometimes it came out a tiny bit thick and the printer scratched the surface of the print. Would recommend!

Great filament for guitar picks

I love this filament for 3D printing guitar picks. People would normally say that 3D printing guitar picks isn't a great idea, but I disagree. And with this filament, it makes them have great durability. This filament has more give than other PLA and PLA+s I've seen, so that's great for accommodating the needed flexibility in light and medium guitar picks. I have a pick that I printed over a year ago now, and it's still going strong. It's only degrading how any other pick would and at about the same if not a slowed rate. The filament is kind of expensive, it comes in a reduced spool, and there isn't the 5 dollars off the pink and cyan like there used to be, so I haven't tried this filament for much else, but I can't imagine it would be a bad choice.

Very Tough And Strong Material

This stuff really is pretty tough. 10x40x5mm bar solid infill is tough enough to loop back on itself without snapping.

Nice prints on Bambu Lab P1S.

Prints nicely in my Bambu lab P1S 3D printer.
