Product Information & Downloads

Customers praised this wood PLA for easy printing with standard PLA settings and no clogging. "Prints amazingly well and consistent" with a cardboard-like texture that accepts stains. Some noted it's only 600g vs 1kg spools, making it pricier. The filament is brittle and stringy but lightweight. Appearance varies from "looks exactly like cardboard" to wood-like.

Great wood looking material worked well

I was a little concerned about how brittle the material was when I opened the package but the material worked great. I can not comment on the long term stability but directly out of the package it worked great in my Ultimaker 2 connected. Great choice if you are looking for a material that looks similar to wood.

PolyWood prints beautifully with natural texture

I'm still pretty new to 3D printing, however, I have learned a lot and have used many different types of filament in the past 4 months. My printer runs nearly 24/7! I'm printing on a Raise3D E2 and used the PlyWood with their standard PLA settings. They have since added this to their open filament library. The model of Baby Groot was downloaded from Thingiverse. There was very little clean-up needed - a few wispies, that's all. I painted his eyes, mouth and "hair" using Testors modeling acrylic paint. I watered down the green (mixed with a little red and yellow) so that it acted more as a stain. The PolyWood took the color well. The material is delicate when it first comes out of the nozzle, but the layers stick well and the final prints are tough. The doll house furniture I designed for my 4 year old niece. I call it chunky table and chunky chairs. They look nice in nature wood tone, but will probably be just as nice stained or painted. If you like the table and chairs, you can find the free downloadable stl on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4691122. I used supports for the furniture and they were easily removed. I love this filament. It's a great filament for wood-look projects!

Prints absolutely beautiful so light

First off, it's not wood and I think they should call it PolyCork instead. Comes in the infamous Polymaker high-quality box with a resealable locking bag which I wish others would at least provide the bag! However, this prints absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! Sooooo light! Almost no layer lines are visible using a .4 nozzle at .2 layer height. I print like I would with wood composites. Using a SeeMeCNC Rostock Max v2, my nozzle is at 195C, bed temp at 60C running 60mm/s. It's so easy to post-process with some light sanding, if necessary at all. Definitely one of my favorite filaments!! I used an entire roll for WeTheRosies project.

Best wood filament no clogs

This is the second wood filament I have used.. THIS IS THE BEST.. NO CLOGS AND LOOKS AMAZING (when stained)..... Thanks to another reviewer on the tip to use a layer of the below shown wax then paint on the stain using a small paint brush youd find in any art class. The two staining products I used to post process are showin together with the final Wooden fish bowl. Use the first wax and spread a tiny bit with paper towel (wait one hour) then sand using 400 grit.... then stir wood stain can, using tiny paint brush apply one layer and then another.. real thin.. you want the layer lines to make it look like real wood.. the key is not to have the lines be perfect. For every full coat of stain wait an hour or two to apply another. Every coat you add the darker the wood you printed will become. The fishbowl is 2 layers and the biz card holder is 4 layers... and is still wet... sorry! Great stuff!!! Just for comparison... the last pic is another business card holder... the left is unpainted without stain and the right shows stain.... GREAT STUFF

Wood PLA Filament Great for Staining

Loved this filament. It has a rough texture and touch that makes it suitable for further wood like finishes. It's PLA that has somewhat the base color of wood, which makes it perfect for wood stain application.Prints perfectly at 215 temp and 45 heatbed.Attached photos are for a horse wall mount that I modeled with Maya and Fusion 360. This is my first ever 3D print and project. I printed it with Creality CR-10, layer height 0.2 mm.Sanded the print and applied one layer of Minwax olde maple satin using a brush to mimic as possible wood grains. Not bad for a first timer I guess :)

Great Wood Look Prints Easily

This filament definitely deserves more good reviews. I haven't tried other wood filaments with actual wood in them, but from what I have seen in pictures the prints come out looking just like those wood filaments and even look very much the same compared to Colorfabb's woodfill even though this filament doesn't have any actual wood in it. The fact there is no actual wood makes this filament as easy to print with as regular PLA without the added risk of clogging nozzles that other wood filaments have. Using the same settings as regular PLA I am able to make really great prints. I posted photos of the wood crate print model from Thingiverse to show how it looks. I haven't tried sanding or staining yet to see if that works out. I will try that soon and update my review.

Prints Easy Looks Like Wood

It prints easy, just like any other PLA. You can also sand it and stain it and it kind looks like real wood, or like a faux laminate wood floor. I used it to make a little wood shelf and from a distance you can't tell it's plastic so I'm happy with the outcome. One thing I didn't notice is that it's only 600g and not a full 1kg like every other spool, so it's a bit expensive for what you actually get.

Great filament prints smooth looks great

This really made me fall in love with Polymaker. Prints smooth. Honestly looks exactly like cardboard, but you're not going to get a perfect wood grain with filament. Looks great, prints great, getting it zoned in is pretty easy and once you have your settings right, it's smooth sailing. Sands well, I didn't try to stain it, so I can't vouch for that, but it is a great filament.

Smooth Wood Filament No Clogs

I like this filament no clogs, it was smooth, feels exactly like real wood and can be stained. However do not print this filament faster than 60mms it will string, and come out pretty bad.

Prints Well Looks Great Like Cardboard

Prints with regular PLA settings. Extrusion is slightly thinner than regular PLA, so you may observe rougher lines. Extra stringy - no way to reduce it as it's the fibre material, but still less stringy than PETG. Looks great, like cardboard, prickly to the touch. If you want to wood stain the prints, avoid water-based ones as they come right off. These all based on an Ender 3 with 0.4mm nozzle.

Great Product Feels Like Real Wood

Great product, feels a lot like real wood, similar texture and density. It does not soak up stain very well, so I've been using it just as-is. It does feel a lot like real wood though, it is light-weight and slightly rough. I've used both 0.2mm and 0.4mm nozzles and have not had any issues with clogging, since this product does not contain actual wood fiber, but foams up slightly as you print to give the look and feel of real wood. The only downside is a lot of stringing (lower temp causes less stringing) and the brittleness of the filament (I've tried drying it, does not help), so you have to be a little careful handling it or it will snap.

Impressive filament prints great quality

Wouldn't call this a wood filament. It looks more like sandstone right off the print bed. However, it prints REALLY good using standard PLA settings with a small retraction adjustment for stringing. The slightly rough, matte finish does just enough to hide small zits and imperfections but it still maintains decent detail. I'm very impressed with this material and it might be my everyday PLA going forward. Especially for the price.

Prints Nicely, Great Surface Finish

My spool prints very nicely. There is more dimensional variation in the filament than I expected +-.08mm. It does not dramatically effect my print quality and averages out right around the 1.75mm target. I attribute this to the composition of the material, you can tell the filament feels different than a regular PLA or wood infused filament. The surface texture does a good job of masking any layer uniformity issues. Really nice surface finish. My one gripe is the color, its just about the most boring brown/beige you can image. It's a snooze fest. If you took some basswood, stripped it of all color variation, smashed it to a pulp, and extruded it you'd have a similar look. I'd love this in something more interesting. Give me chocolate brown of wenge, the deep red of cocobolo, or the pale Japanese Cypress. Anything but middle of the road brown. While you're at it Polymaker, figure out how to make some pigment variation in the spool that changes quickly. If anyone can make 'grain' it's you.And that packaging *smooch*!

Perfect Prints Without Any Tinkering

I expected this to be a little more difficult than normal PLA but it totally surprised me, perfect prints without any tinkering at ALL. Adheres, not stringy, worked great from the first print! I will definitely use this more.

Prints Amazingly Well And Consistent

Prints amazingly well and consistent, I did have some issues where the filament broke during printing, however only on the first 2-3 meters, afer cutting off that section and printing again had no more issues. The properties of this filament are really interesting, it is one of the least dense filaments on the market and because it is kind of porous in addition to looking kind of like wood and accepting stains like wood, it also glues a lot like wood. This makes it really useful for projects where being light weight is critical such as model aircraft, or where you are combining 3d printed parts with wood parts.
